Richard Julis

Richard “Richie” Allan Julis (Raphael Avraham ben Moshe) was a writer, film historian, and the king of LA karaoke with his artful and heartfelt renditions of Sinatra and Rat Pack genre of music . He went to Cornell for his undergraduate degree in industrial labor relations and later received a masters at USC for film history.

Although he was writer, critical reviewer of movie scripts and New York City high school teacher, Richard’s greatest passion was his family, his Jewish faith, and Israel.

He saw early on, what others are only now seeing, that Israel and the Middle East would evolve in ways that would enhance the strength of Israel while making it more vulnerable to existential threats of all kinds.

His consistent and vigorous activism to stop that dangerous process was cut short with all too early death in January 2006.

He left us with a smile from the laughter he brought, a determined stance to continue what he stood for in helping Israel, and a shared love of the beauty and wisdom of the Jewish religion, which from an early age he embraced with all his heart and soul.
